Let’s be real. The interference of COVID-19 and the shift to online-EVERYTHING has (day-by-day) added a monstrous amount of anxiety, anger, and stress to my daily routine. Dealing with esta cambio de mierda is hard. How are we expected to adjust to a pandemic so quickly? This was never on my agenda! I could go on & on… but I won’t. For the reason that, complaining isn’t on my “MIL blog” agenda either. Moreover, I am fortunate to have food, a home alongside my loved ones and stable health. Como mi mama always tells me, “las cosas podrían ser peores.”
With tension clouding our minds, it can be easy to forget how blessed we are in the moment. Entonces it is relevant, mas que nunca, that we implement a method of awareness and mitigation within our sphere in order to muddle through. Personally, I’ve taken up yoga + meditation! And through this, I have learned to take better control of my mental attitude. Yo lo recomiendo muchisimo. This is why for today’s post, I’ve accumulated an informational guide on why you too should hit reset via yoga + meditation exercises.
Mindfulness
Have you ever plunged into a mindset or behavior that isn’t so typical of you? I have many times. Especially, throughout this pandemonium. In the beginning, the load of news and duties that had been thrown at me drove me to a state of “que demonios?” frenzies. I often coped with lazy days on the couch and crying sessions. After much time, I’ve recognized the mistake in reacting that way. I needed to stop, relax, and respira. Really, focus on what I could control. That being, my body, mind, and soul.
When it comes to events like aforementioned, recognize your reaction.
- What are you feeling/doing?
- Is it appropriate?
- Are these behaviors/actions shaping me to be a steady person, physically and mentally?
- If not, what can I do differently to prosper?
Yoga + meditation requires the acknowledgment of your inner/outer self and surroundings. Due to the fact that the process of “recognizing” produces a mindful and gradual reality. Regularly exercising through yoga + meditation assists you to move from the sympathetic nervous system to the parasympathetic nervous system — in other words: “flight or flight to rest and digest.” This panic and quarantine is going to take a while, so why not learn how to get a grip on your routine and self?

Physical Health
Chica recuerda — implementing is one thing, but maintaining is another! Maintaining a regular yoga + meditation routine bears various physical and mental health benefits (we’ll get into mental benefits later). According to the American Osteopathic Association, the relaxation techniques in yoga + meditation can lower blood pressure, reduce insomnia, lessen chronic pain, y mucho mas like:
- Increase flexibility
- Increase muscle strength and tone
- Improve respiration, energy, and vitality
- Maintain a balanced metabolism
- Reduce Weight
- Cardio and circulatory health
- Improve athletic performance
- Protect from injury
Whether you’re an injured athlete or an abuelo, there’s always a pose/exercise procedure for everyone to try. Even while you’re going through the menstrual cycle! There are a few seating poses that focus on the lower half of your body and help alleviate your cramp pain. Entonces si hay esperanza after all…
Mental Health
Did you know that yoga + meditation is also a form of spiritual healing? If you read our blog post about therapy, you’ll see that we briefly mentioned about finding your preference in therapy. Among the different types/approaches, we said that some therapists can provide spiritual healing. The reason being is that the core of yoga + meditation is on improving the conscious and body, this practice restores self-trust and helps cultivate a relationship with yourself.
Being aware and more peaceful towards yourself pushes you to take that energy outside of yoga + meditation. With practice, you’ll grow to be more compassionate and less reactive toward things or people and as a result, help develop a stronger relationship with others. Y por supuesto, it’ll enable you to mend old and new wounds, as it encourages you to rise up and do your best.
Nowadays we need that motivation, a healthy mindset, and strength to get by. Yoga + meditation is one of the many ways to do it without any outside influence! In this practice, it’s all about YOU and only you. Not about the situation you’re in or the negativity plaguing your surroundings. Olvidete de eso! With that, go out and get ready to namaslay your everyday life. As I know you have the fuerza to do!
